Bellifortis
The Bellifortis is one of the best-known works on medieval war technology. In it, Konrad Kyeser describes, among other things, battle chariots, rockets and wall breakers, but also deals with technical developments such as mills and ships with paddle wheels. The richly illustrated codex is dedicated to King Ruprecht and was probably written by the author himself. It is part of the collection of medieval manuscripts of the SUB Göttingen, which are currently being newly indexed within the framework of a project funded by third parties.

Tractatus integer de testibus, Frankfurt, Nuremberg
The juridical Tractatus is the first work to be acquired for the Collection of German Printed Works of the 18th Century. In 1989, six large German libraries joined together to form a consortium to build a comprehensive collection for the printed works of the German language and culture area. Each library is responsible for a period segment; Göttingen is responsible for the 18th century. Since its beginnings, the collection in Göttingen has grown to almost 20,000 volumes.

Publications of the Göttingen University Press
The Göttingen University Press was founded in 2003 and since then has made science and academic work from the University visible to the outside world. Works presenting the scientific collections and particularly outstanding works on Göttingen's history are exhibited here. In addition, anthologies and conference proceedings as well as dissertations are published. The publishing house produces around 50 publications per year, of which about 2/3 are in series and 1/3 are independent.

Magazine of various ideas and objects in 24 engravings for the young, Nuremberg
This children's book bears witness to the educational programme of the Enlightenment: a work should both benefit and delight. Readers are instructed in short texts and illustrative copperplates about appropriate behaviour in various areas of social life. The copper engravings were executed by Joseph Kellner (1749-1814), who is known as the progenitor of the Kellner family of Nuremberg glass painters and artists.

The Tin Drum
For Günter Grass, the cover belonged to the book like the first sentence: "It demands the same care that is needed in writing. It should condense and simplify the content of the book like an emblem." That is why he drew the cover motifs himself and designed the books together with his publisher Gerhard Steidl. Four different motifs for his debut novel The Tin Drum can be found in the Grass Archive. The Göttingen archive documents the work of the book artist Günter Grass, who understood books as works of art consisting of text, image and the book as object.

Collections of the Göttingen State and University Library
The Göttingen University Library, founded in 1734, was the first to realise the concept of a modern research library. As early as the 18th century, it built up holdings of national and international standing, which were continuously maintained throughout the rest of its history. This has given rise to a wide range of tasks for the library at regional, national and international level. Today, the Göttingen State and University Library is one of the largest libraries in Germany with a collection of around 8 million media units.
