Der eigentliche Kasten wie auch der Deckel sind je aus einem Stück Holz geschnitzt und lassen sich ineinander stülpen.; Aus Holz fertigten die Nootka [Nuu-Chah-Nulth  - Anm. Ethnologische Sammlung Göttingen] Schachteln zur Aufbewahrung und zum Transport ihrer Pfeile, die man unterwegs \"in Köchern aus den Fellen wilder Tiere\" trug. Eine der drei auf den Cookschen Reisen gesammelten Pfeilschachteln [hierbei handelt es sich um das Exemplar aus Göttingen - Anm. Ethnologische Sammlung Göttingen] ist so wie die wenigen aus dem 19.
